In 1985 a girl was born in Texas who never wanted to be a musician.
Twelve short years later, she read a book that made her question every other fiction novel she had every read. That book was Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Not one for doing things in order, she skipped the first book in the series and moved on to the meaty content of the second novel. Actually, I recall it more like she wasn't aware that the first book existed until she devoured the second. C'est la vie.
Many years after reading said book, and while taking out the trash one evening, she found a beat up guitar sitting by the dumpster. Eyeing the instrument for several hours, not hoping the owner would return, she made off with the guitar. With the prized possession in hand, she admired her trophy in her apartment. She named the guitar Lucy. For what reasons, we will never know. It was restrung and placed in the corner to collect dust, because after all, she didn't desire to be a musician.
Seven years after the fateful encounter with Mr. Potter and his shenanigans, she stumbled upon two brothers who claimed to sing songs about books. Those boys were Paul and Joe DeGeorge. Though they had never officially met the girl, she was inspired by the brothers and their admiration and love for Mr. Potter. That night she went home and picked up the old guitar and wrote 'Pony Show.'
On March 22, 2008 that same girl, let's call her Bethany, decided to start a "band" consisting of only herself and Lucy. They called themselves 'KwikSpell.'
